This is where you'll find the island's weekend markets and craft fairs, food pop-ups, quiz nights, wellness sessions, car meets, charity runs and family days — the everyday events that fill a Saturday. Colombo has something on almost every weekend, while Galle Fort, Kandy and the coastal towns add their own fairs and pop-ups, shifting with the seasons.
The rhythm follows the calendar: Avurudu fairs around April, a packed festive stretch in December, and beach-town events that move with the coast — the south-west from around December to April, the east through the middle of the year. Many of these are free or pay-at-the-gate; where tickets exist, each listing points you to the organiser's official seller, so check how entry works before you set off.
