Sports events in Kandy

Kandy's sport runs at two levels. Pallekele, twenty minutes out of town, takes internationals and franchise cricket under lights whenever a touring side comes through, and those tickets go through the organiser's official seller as soon as sales open. In town, the school calendar carries the rest: the hill country's big-match rivalries around February and March fill the streets with parades and papare bands, rugby runs through the middle of the year with a following that rivals cricket here, and club and school athletics fill the grounds in between. Outdoor fixtures shift in the wetter months.
